El Mas is placed, in the mountain route GR1. it is 30km far from the ski tracks. It is a starting point of mountain excursions in the Pyrenees. He village Sant Joan de les Abadesses is placed in the high vale of the river Ter. The history is narrowly linked to the Monastery founded by Guifré el Pelós in the year 887, which is centre of spirituality and culture. It also keeps artistic jewellery of great value, such as the Romanesque monument of Christ. The museum preserves textiles, jewellery, paintings and sculptures from the 11th century. You can visit the remains of the ancient wall and the medieval village. Tradition, popular festivities and sports events during the year, along with the representations of the legend of Compte Arnau give strong personality to the village.
